Thanksgiving is coming up, along with family traditions and fun times. This week, some students have been kind enough to share their family traditions during this holiday season.

Senior, Joshua Martinez shares his family’s annual Thanksgiving traditions. “I dine with my family at the dinner table and we feast on turkey and appetizers and eat pumpkin pie,” Martinez says “After we eat and talk, we like to decorate the Christmas tree together.”

On the other hand, Venice Ornelas, a junior, spends her Thanksgiving similarly but has different traditions than Martinez, which she shares with her mom. “I get together with my family and we eat, my favorite meal is turkey,” Orneals says. “After Thanksgiving with my family, I help my mom make Thanksgiving decorations for the school she works at,” shares Ornelas.

Sophomore Lei Platon spends her Thanksgiving a little differently. “When we finish eating our Thanksgiving dinner everyone goes out shopping for Christmas gifts together.” She adds that  “My favorite tradition that we do is when we wake up early and we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade.”

Mikayla Welch, a sophomore, says her favorite tradition is “going to my aunt’s house with family and making homemade pasta, we also like to bring some home after.”

Chloe Yuen, a freshman, talks about how she and her family spend their time together. “We get together as a family and eat, we also like to talk and update each other about life”

Valeria Arroyo, a senior, talks about what she and her family like to make and do during their holiday. “I like to hang out with family, and we always make tamales during Thanksgiving, and they are always at the dinner table every Thanksgiving.” She adds that, “Before we eat we all share who we’re thankful for and I really like that part.”
