Saturday, Dec.7, Downtown Campbell assembled the Carol of Lights event, starting at 4 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m.
The Carol of Lights is open to all ages but is mostly for children to have fun. There are all sorts of activities to do, bright lights everywhere, and a theme of wearing ugly sweaters.
Downtown Campbell produces this event every year with the help of dedicated volunteers and donations. This event is fully free to visitors besides the vendors selling their products.
Various vendors sold products like toys with flashing lights, hand-made crochet keychains, and plushies. Campbell also had volunteers distribute free popcorn and cotton candy.
The event also included games, face painting, bounce houses, a petting zoo, Santa visits, dances, carols, and band performances. All were surrounded by people and long lines, especially Santa visits and the petting zoo.
The petting zoo had a lot of people in line to pet and feed the animals. The petting zoo included animals such as pigs, chickens, goats, bunnies, and ponies. The ponies were separated from the other animals for the children to ride on.
Santa’s visits had a long line to talk to him and get a picture. Santa arrived in a police car, waved to the crowd, and took time with each child for photos.
The whole street was decorated with lights on trees and inflatables on top of stores. All stores were decorated with trees and lights. A store named Simply Smashing showcased an annual window display featuring homemade ornaments and a decorative scene with a snowman, snowwoman, and penguins inside a big fabric ornament.
As the night concluded, attendees gradually left, with some staying to help clean up and stations packing up.
