Around the end of each year, Spotify releases “Spotify Wrapped,” a personalized summary of a user’s listening habits. Originally launched in 2015 as “Your Year in Music,” it features top artists, songs, and total minutes streamed. Over time, Spotify has added creative elements, such as playlists and interactive features, to enhance the experience.
Students at Del Mar High School shared their Spotify Wrapped with the Dispatch, offering varied opinions on its accuracy.
Alessandra Lopez Torres, a senior, found her top artist to be Ivan Cornejo. She commented, “I was only using Spotify at the beginning of the school year, so now, towards the end, I’m not really listening to that right now, so it’s not really me.”
In contrast, Anna Lucia Rodriguez Peralta, whose top artist was Kali Uchis, said, “I do think it’s accurate because I did listen to a lot of Kali Uchis, and I do play that song on repeat, like almost every day.”
The differing views highlight how personal streaming habits can change over time, making Spotify Wrapped a unique snapshot of each user’s musical journey.
