JV girls defeats Overfelt High School

JV girls soccer defeats Overfelt High School (2-0), Thursday, Feb, 6.

“Overall the girls did well but they can do better,” said JV coach Albert Airem.

Airem said some key takeaways from the game were in the second half, being a lot more memorable compared to the first half.

“It’s almost like in the first half we were in a sleeping mode, and then in the second half the girls woke up and started really playing together well, working harder and hustling more,” said Airem.

Airem also mentions a few game aspects he values that worked well. For example, the girls trusting the concept of getting open and giving teammates options when to pass the ball.

“I’m proud of the second half, and I just wish they played the same way in the first half,” said Airem following the game’s conclusion.

Lucy Porter, a Freshman, says some challenges she and her teammates faced were lacking good communication and being unable to pass the ball well. “I think we needed to pass the ball instead of just kicking it anywhere,” said Porter.

Porter said her and her teammates supported each other on and off the field by giving helpful suggestions, like where to kick the ball.

“I think we did well in the game and we definitely had rough patches but they got better,” said Porter.
