The launch of “Spread Love Week” is an initiative designed not as a distraction but as a fundamental shift in the school’s ecosystem.
Hand-cut paper hearts in the hallways, each unique in its slight imperfections, everyone is prepared for the day of love.
The true transformation isn’t in the decorations, it’s in the way students are treating one another.
The initiative is designed to benefit the student body by shifting the focus from academics to being able to show your love to the people who matter the most: friends and family.
The primary benefit of the week is the sense of relaxation it brings to a high-pressure school environment. For many, this comfort starts with visual participation and a sense of belonging.
Freshman Natalie Valdez believes the week is essential for the school’s spirit. “What I think is very nice is how everyone comes together to dress up,” Valdez said.
She noted that the all-pink dress-up day was her favorite not just because pink is her favorite color, but because it represents a collective “princess story” vibe.
The festive spirit week creates an atmosphere that helps students step out of their daily routine to participate in a shared theme, making school feel like their comfort zone of love and warmth. The initiative also highlights how simple acts of kindness can benefit a person’s entire day. The focus on friendship encourages students to look out for one another in ways they might overlook during a normal week
Freshman Jaelyn Page felt the impact of this bond before she even stepped onto campus. Instead of her usual bus ride, a friend offered her a ride to school. A small gesture of friendship that Page said made her smile and set a positive tone for her morning.
“I feel like it can bring people together,” Page said. She explained that the “daily assignments” of Spread Love Week allow students to see the kindness others are showing, which strengthens their own desire to support their friends and families.
Ultimately, the real story is about how easily a school’s environment can be transformed when people decide to lead with kindness and warmth in their heart, showing how students can show their love for their families and friends.
